That is a great question.  Bleach is wonderful for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, but is risky business for most washable clothing items.  Chlorine bleach can corrode fabrics and weaken them, eventually leaving things looking like Swiss cheese (not the best look unless you are going for the rock star vibe). 

If you have white washable garments (the only thing you should ever try to use diluted bleach on) use chlorine bleach’s good sister, oxygenating bleach, like hydrogen peroxide.  It works miracles on old yellow stains that have oxidized over time. 

You know, arm pit stains or mysterious yellow brown stains that were not there 6 months ago when you last tucked that item away.  Bleachers beware, unless you are at a sporting event, those bleachers are safe!
